Roseate Spoonbills and a Roseate Skimmer
.
Having roseate in your wildlife name usually means it’s gonna be pink-alicious pretty!
Most likely, you’re immediately thinking Roseate Spoonbills. 😃

Thank you, Nia!
That’s one smart dragon!
Thanks Brian! 😊
Wow, Donna! I’ve never seen a Roseate Skimmer before and didn’t even know they existed! Such a beautiful color, and an excellent capture. Thanks for the introduction. 🙂
Thank you, Barbara! My first sighting of a Roseate Skimmer was back in November in Alabama. I tried for days to capture it speeding around our campsite but did not luck out. To see this one a week ago at the NWR in Florida, I was determined ‘this time’! Actually, I was lucky it was cooperative. 😊
Both are so beautiful! Love the hot colour!
Thank you! 😊
Wow! We learn something new every day. Thanks for sharing. I wonder why there isn’t a ‘roseate’ flamingo. Or maybe there is….
Thank you, Susan! No, there’s no Roseate Flamingo, wonder why they weren’t named that too? There is, however, a Roseate Tern! 😊
I did not know that. I’ll have to check them out.
👌
Definitely pretty in pink!
😊 Thanks Belinda!
Very Nice Donna! I have never seen a Roseate Skimmer Dragonfly!
Thank you, Reed! I’ve never seen one before last November in Alabama and now here in Florida where I captured it finally. They are common and widespread in North America, more so in the south, and specifically in Arkansas where there is a large population. 🙂
So awesome! I just love dragonflies!
Thank you Lisa!
Yes, I immediately thought of Spoonbills but a dragonfly– who would have thought! Very cool. A reminder there is much about the world that I have not even conceived of, let alone seen. Wow, what a find!
Thank you, Jane! Did you know there is a Roseate Tern also? I learned about it this week, they stay well off the coast of the U.S. and breed mainly in the Caribbean. I’d love to see one!
No, I have not heard of a Roseate Tern, but would like to see it, too. Happy shooting!
Great shots, Donna. It’s the first time I’ve seen a pink skimmer. 🙂
Thank you, HJ! 😊
Wow! Fabulous photos Donna. Brilliant!
Thank you, Mike!
A pink dragonfly? Who knew?! 🙂
I didn’t know about them until I saw one last fall, then again now in Florida. Cool, huh?! 😊
Beauties of all shapes and sizes, Donna!
Thank you, Carol! Big or small, we love them all! 😊
OMG! *squeal* I love them!
Thank you, Vic! I’m back to the search of both in the area!
Great pictures, Donna! Well spotted and captured the skimmer!!
Thank you, Indira!
Beautiful shots, my compliments !
Thank you very much!!
WOWZA!! That Skimmer is special! Loved both images though.
Thank you, Deborah!! 😊
You’re welcome, Donna!
Cool idea to relate the 2 by matching the unique but same color palettes.
Thank you, Denise! Trying to get a photo of the dragonfly took some patience, but I knew I had to get it. I had already come up with the plan to post a presentation with the spoonbills. 😊
