Bald Eagles in Flight
We have Bald Eagles year-round, but the number increases substantially with migratory Alaska and Canada eagles here for the winter.
Blackwater NWR’s annual eagle count on January 13th recorded a record-breaking 329 Bald Eagles on the refuge property. When I was down there couple weeks ago…..oh my! They were truly everywhere.
Here’s a few in flight shots.

It’s always great to catch them in flight like this. Nice shots.
Thank you, Ted!

Thank you, Reed, I agree! You’d get your fill of them at Blackwater NWR right now, they are everywhere!
Beautiful. We had one hanging out on our property last week. It was feasting on a deer that had been killed by an automobile across the road from us.
Thank you, Curt! They certainly won’t miss out on a good roadkill. I see them a lot on roadkill, then there’s a bunch of vultures further back, waiting for their turn.
Wow, such a magnificent bird and your captures in flights are truly amazing. (Suzanne)
My those are amazing! There must be enough food to feed so many on the reserve or do they come begging humans?
