Great Horned Owl Again
I shared a post back in August with my exciting encounter but poor dusk photo of one of the Great Horned Owls that live and hunt around us.
Luck was with me in getting another opportunity in the fall with one of the Great Horned Owls once again, this time on a late afternoon with perfect lighting.
Hearing a juvenile begging, I followed the calls until I found it with my binoculars.Β Then I worked on sneaking closer for some photos.

Thank you, Bruce! I was sneaky in my approach, but we know it knew I was there lol.

Youβre very welcome Donna
What a thrill, Donna. Great shots!
Thank you, Jane!
This is so special. A great shot and a lovely bird.
Thank you, Sandy! If we go outside after darkness falls, we can hear the owls talking to each other. π
Or I should say, Who Who Who-ing each other! π
What a beauty!
Thank you, Curt!
This is fantastic, Donna! I have yet to see an owl in real life!
Thank you, Terri! I hope one day you will, they are incredible!
What cracking images! You did well to get so close though it’s keeping it’s eyes on you!
Thank you, Brian! I really did sneak ever so slow, behind other trees, making my way. I was thrilled to be able to get so close for the shots. And yes, I felt those eyes on me!!
That’s one handsome bird! ππΌ
Big too, whew!! π Thank you, Eliza!
A perfect capture Donna ! I love that raptors have such beautiful patterned plumage. I also love how soft the owl feathers are allowing them to silently stealth in the night.
Wow, the first photo is amazing; so many details. (Suzanne)
