Five On The Wire – #20
Same wire perch. Different bird!
Each photo is the top of one of my shepherd’s hook for the bird feeders. It makes for a good perch when waiting your turn for a feeder or bird bath!
The first two are my “Mr & Mrs Bluebird” pair that are considering my backyard nest box.

Eastern Bluebird (female)

Eastern Bluebird (male)

White-breasted Nuthatch

American Goldfinch

Common Grackle

What wonderful photos! I love birds, my grandparents who are no longer around did too. Now whenever I see a robin or a blackbird I think of them 🙂
this begs the question of: who perched it best?
🤩 good one!
The perfect spot for all your visitors to pose for you. Love it! 😁
The mockingbird was on one today, he really thinks that one specific is his perch, so no one else is allowed on it. I have five shepherd hooks. 😁
Silly mockingbird. 😁
😁
Lovely as usual…(Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne!
Superb capture
Thank you!
Handsome visitors! I can’t wait for the return of the grackles 😊
They keep me smiling! Belinda, I will be happy to send the grackles back to you, wish it could be tomorrow 😂 they are eating too good here 🤣 I’ve had to start throwing deer corn out so they’ll stay off the feeders. Or I go out the door clapping, and they fly quickly. The other birds then jump on the feeders and ground, lol. The big ‘ole grackles are intimidating them.
I guess they can be bullies. I do love to see them strutting along though 😊
Amazing strutters! 😊
Striking photos, Donna. I love how well you captured the grackle colors.
Thank you, Egidio! Those grackles will color up when the light hits them just right!
It is not often that you can say it about birds, but I take the view that the female eastern bluebird is more handsome than the male
That is true! And yes, the female bluebird is very pretty, I love her eyes.
Wonderful
Thank you, Sheree!
They have one goal in mind and that is not missing their turn, or, if they see you coming with food or water, then they want first dibs on the goods. These are all nice shots Donna. Mr. and Mrs. Bluebird are a handsome pair. I like the profile of the White-breasted Nuthatch against the dark background. I know the poor Goldfinch is “gettin’ there” with his feathers before he is vibrant once again and the Grackle sparkles and shines as captured by you.
Thank you, Linda! My backyard buddies keep me entertained wonderfully!
Yes, you could stand there all day, not move an inch and be entertained!
Wonderful photos. And that’s another way to add size information
Thank you, IJ!
Nice to meet Mr & Ms Bluebird! They look like a happy couple and I hope they do settle on your rental. 🙂 The shepherd’s hook is a great prop for some very nice pictures.
Aren’t they sweet, Barbara!! Right now, the chickadees keep going into the box when the bluebird leaves, lol. Must be prime rental. 😉
