Squirrel Shenanigans
More Eastern Gray Squirrel photos as promised!

My backyard at sunrise
In the above photo, you can see my feeders and bird bath moved forward to be close to my back porch (bottom left corner) from the line of trees in the back left so I could maintain them easier after the winter storm.
Now enter the hungry squirrels. They cannot find any food or water either.

An Eastern Gray Squirrel making a plan to get to my feeders
The squirrel makes it and up he goes!

“Hi! I just gotta shimmy up this pole!”

“I made it! Hmmm…what do we have here?”

Munch…munch…munch…
$$…$$…$$…$$

It sure is yummy!
To keep them away from the feeders and wandering on my back porch, I started casting bird seed far out on top of the ice/snow. It’s been working just as well for them as the birds!

Yes, squirrels, I love you at a distance!

Cute and annoying at the same time, ha! Beautiful captures, Donna. 🙂
You said that right! 😂 Thank you, Eliza!
Charming
Thank you, Sheree!
Ya gotta love squirrels! At my local audubon the cast seeds all around the feeders, as well. Juncos, Jay’s and other birds enjoy this as well.
Boy oh boy, your yard is beautiful!
Yes, just as Eliza said, cute AND annoying 😂 Thank you, I love my back yard, the marsh and pond behind the treeline is an added bonus. 🙂
Squirrels, cute and determined! Gotta love them. 😁
We do love them, while still chasing them away at times! 😁 The feeders are all moved back and they are up and down the feeders, stinkers!
The happy squirrel. Well fed and warm cuddly coat. Charming captures. Thank you Donna.
Thank you, Sandy!
What a cutie he is! These are terrific, Donna 😊
Thank you, Belinda! And he’s got a whole lotta buddies too. Feeders are moved back to their original spot and they are taking turns. 😏
Yes, those squirrels take liberties when birdseed is involved. I like how it shimmies up the pole. Those Eastern Gray Squirrels are real cutie pies (and they know it too). These are great photos Donna. I really like squirrels, though I now feed them and the birds at the park, rather than at the house.
Thank you, Linda! I put all my feeders back to their normal spot, and the whole squirrel clan is back. Who knew I had pole dancers in my back yard! 🤣
Ha ha – they will do anything. My neighbor had a wrought-iron gazebo on her deck and the squirrel did this slouchy thing to creep along and hang on by its toes to tip over the birdseed. 🙂
🤪 they tip mine too, sometimes right into their mouth, lol
They are cheeky! A friend of mine lives near a woods and the deer come into her yard and tip the birdfeeder into their mouth and drink from the birdbath then stretch out under her tree in her backyard. Make yourselves right at home guys!
I love how determined they are. Great pictures!
That they are, makes for great entertainment for sure! Thank you, Barbara!
I love the way they sit with their tails up. Thankfully our feeders are squirrel free. Our dog, Tomos, probably makes sure of that. We’ve seen (and he’s chased) plenty in the woods nearby but they seem to steer clear of our garden. 🤔
It means we have plenty of Blue, Great and Long-tailed tits, probably a breeding pair of Great-spotted woodpeckers, Dunnocks, Robins and 2 Nuthatches (all European versions of course) regularly visiting the feeders. 👍👍😀
Oh how lucky for you!! Yes, having a pup does help keep the squirrels away. Both our kids’ dogs take care of their squirrels, keep them at a distance. Guess I need to buy a dog! 😁
How could you not love them?!
J
I know, I’m a sucker for squirrels hehehe
EXACTLY – one of the cutest and expressive creatures in our great land, but best seen from afar ha. Great shots!
Thank you!
