1-2-3 Birds & Berries – #16
Continuing with the Cedar Waxwing photo session in my last post; yes, I will admit I ignored the European Starlings mixed in. I didn’t want to stop shooting the waxwings!
With all the birds moving quickly through the trees, I suddenly had a European Starling land in front of my lens. Now it was all about the iridescent coloring of the starling!

So glad the starling was not willing to be ignored. 😊
Me too, thank you, Pepper! 😊
Glorious plumage and photos Donna
Thank you, Sheree!
Wonderful portraits. Yes, starlings are quite striking in the right light.
Thank you!
Beautifully captured, Donna. But boy, are they terrible hogs at feeders!
Thank you, Eliza! I’m a crazy woman waving my arms at my window when they and the grackles flock to my feeders, makes them all take off and usually leave! My backyard birdies usually stay in place, glad those flocks left! 😉
Mine are relentless… returning over and over. We often bring the mealworm feeder in for a few hours, but of course, that punishes the blues, but they figure it out and come right in when it goes out again. We call them like chickens! 😀
That starling is a Donna made star! They won’t be so plane after this shoot!
Thank you, Sandy, from Mr Starling and me!
I absolutely love shooting Starlings Donna but I would walk a million miles for some Waxwings 🙂
I very much agree with you, Brian!✋😁✋
Nicely captured, Donna! Such striking birds.
Thank you, Belinda!
They are so beautiful in the winter. You got some great images and looks at that one!
Thank you, Deborah, lucky me!
Serendipity. Those are great shots, Diana. Especially picking the berry.
Thank you, Curt!
My spark bird was a dead European Starling. I was maybe 7 or 8 years old. The iridescence had me mesmerized.
Actually one of the earliest birds I remember as a young child was a starling also! I loved their speckling, we called them rice birds. 😁 Thanks for sharing your memory!
I like starlings for the woolly jumpers covered with hearts that they like to wear. Or that is what I see at least.
I love those little hearts too, Tom. I wonder how many others notice them? 😉
Wow shots here. They are really beautiful birds.
Thank you, Ted!
Yes, they really do look star studded don’t they. The iridescent glow is beautiful when you catch them just right like you have here.
very nice series Donna!
Thank you!
For a bird I do not care much for, they are certainly stunning looking in their shimmering coats.
We all have that sentiment I think! 😉
