    • They sure can! I watched a jay once have four acorns in it’s mouth/throat and worked so hard at trying to get that fifth one in but just couldn’t, lol, and gave up, flew off with his four!

  1. So many great poses and images! I love the catchlights in their eyes and the blue theme today. 💙
I’m going to FL next month and I sure hope it’s my turn to get a good image of one your Blue Jays! They keep flying off or hiding in the foliage when they’ve seen me and my camera coming. Fingers crossed! 😊

    • Thank you, Deborah! Oh, you’re gonna have Florida bird fun! You have two Jays to look for in Florida, the Blue Jay and the more hard to find Florida-Scrub Jay (a lighter blue). I have yet to find a Florida-Scrub! Fingers crossed for you times two!

      • I have several birds I didn’t see the last time I was there and birding on my list. The Florida Scrub Jay wasn’t one but, now it is! I hope to see the Rosette Spoonbill and Woodstork. and all the other fantastic birds that are regular suspects in FL. I will be spending most my time with my Step-dad. Since Mom passed last July he’s struggling a bit, but I have two full days planned birding with a friend I met via the Audubon Society in the Tampa area. Birders are a great bunch of people! I love our community!

        • How awesome to have ‘met’ a local Tampa birder to lead you to some great local hot spots!! You are going to get so many new birds, I am sure including the spoonbill and woodstork. I am excited already for your soon-to-be new lifers, Deborah! 💃😊

  2. What a gorgeous showcase Donna of my two fav birds. Thankyou my friend ! They certainly are handsome birds. I love the many variations of colour in the Blue Jay and I can tell just by looking at it that they have real character.

  3. Beautiful bluebird and jays and under blue skies, too. We had a finch winterfest today. They left and suddenly a Sharp-Shinned Hawk appeared on our patio. I was as thrilled and will be posting on my blog this Sunday! Still winter here…

  4. These are beautiful pictures Donna and I like the look of the birds perched on the evergreens – very nice! That piggy Jay stuffing all those peanuts in its beak made me smile!

      • That’s for sure. I never been lucky enough to see a bluebird in any season. The many Bluebird nesting boxes built/installed by volunteers along the shoreline at the Metropark I frequent have all been overtaken by Tree Swallows every Spring. Yes, that Jay was like a Chipmunk!

  5. The blue jay on white is my favorite. But now you have me missing eastern bluebirds. We have western bluebirds in CO, but not where we live. The eastern ones were my dad’s favorite. All the photos are terrific.
