Here’s wishing these winter blues were positive for you!

I always get a kick out of watching the Blue Jays pack away the peanuts!
They sure can! I watched a jay once have four acorns in it’s mouth/throat and worked so hard at trying to get that fifth one in but just couldn’t, lol, and gave up, flew off with his four!
Blue Jay’s no red/rust white instead, blue bird with red/rust chest. A cheery way to learn. Thank you for these fab shots.
Thank you, Sandy, and you’re welcome! 😊
The best kind of winter blues! Thanks for sharing them, Donna. 🙂
Thank you, Eliza, and you’re welcome! 😊
The nicest kind of blues! I like them all but I think the photo of the bluebird nestled in the pine is my favourite 😊
Definitely a positive! Thanks. 😊
Yay! You’re welcome, Pepper! 😊
very nice series of images Donna. Enjoyed seeing them!
Thank you!
Very nice series Donna! Enjoyed seeing them!
Thank you!
very nice series of images Donna!
Thank you!
So many great poses and images! I love the catchlights in their eyes and the blue theme today. 💙
I’m going to FL next month and I sure hope it’s my turn to get a good image of one your Blue Jays! They keep flying off or hiding in the foliage when they’ve seen me and my camera coming. Fingers crossed! 😊
Thank you, Deborah! Oh, you’re gonna have Florida bird fun! You have two Jays to look for in Florida, the Blue Jay and the more hard to find Florida-Scrub Jay (a lighter blue). I have yet to find a Florida-Scrub! Fingers crossed for you times two!
I have several birds I didn’t see the last time I was there and birding on my list. The Florida Scrub Jay wasn’t one but, now it is! I hope to see the Rosette Spoonbill and Woodstork. and all the other fantastic birds that are regular suspects in FL. I will be spending most my time with my Step-dad. Since Mom passed last July he’s struggling a bit, but I have two full days planned birding with a friend I met via the Audubon Society in the Tampa area. Birders are a great bunch of people! I love our community!
How awesome to have ‘met’ a local Tampa birder to lead you to some great local hot spots!! You are going to get so many new birds, I am sure including the spoonbill and woodstork. I am excited already for your soon-to-be new lifers, Deborah! 💃😊
What a gorgeous showcase Donna of my two fav birds. Thankyou my friend ! They certainly are handsome birds. I love the many variations of colour in the Blue Jay and I can tell just by looking at it that they have real character.
Thank you, Ashley, I knew you were gonna like the Blue Jay, 😉 And yes, they do have real character, such a handsome bird and they love to be loud too!
I do like jays. I quite often hear them here, here but very see them, so it was good to see yours.
Happy to share mine with you, Tom!
Beautiful bluebird and jays and under blue skies, too. We had a finch winterfest today. They left and suddenly a Sharp-Shinned Hawk appeared on our patio. I was as thrilled and will be posting on my blog this Sunday! Still winter here…
Thank you, Terri! I hope your Sharpie story is better than my recent one, mine chased the feeder birds, specifically a junco who flew up on my back porch. I was horrified when the Sharpie grabbed my junco right in front of me and flew off. 😢 I will still like your Sharpie shots, I love them, just not grabbing my little birdies!
Ah, sharpie! Great nickname, Donna! Mr Sharpie watched the feeder, then flew to a tree. Hopefully no other birdies were around.
Yay! 😉 I always tell hawks to go somewhere else to prey on the little birdies, and leave mine alone!
These are beautiful pictures Donna and I like the look of the birds perched on the evergreens – very nice! That piggy Jay stuffing all those peanuts in its beak made me smile!
Thank you, Linda, they keep my winter blues positive! 😊 Glad that piggy jay made you smile!
That’s for sure. I never been lucky enough to see a bluebird in any season. The many Bluebird nesting boxes built/installed by volunteers along the shoreline at the Metropark I frequent have all been overtaken by Tree Swallows every Spring. Yes, that Jay was like a Chipmunk!
The blue jay on white is my favorite. But now you have me missing eastern bluebirds. We have western bluebirds in CO, but not where we live. The eastern ones were my dad’s favorite. All the photos are terrific.
Thank you, Sue! So nice to hear Eastern Bluebirds were your Dad’s favorite. 😊 Your Western Bluebirds are also beautiful, as well as the Mountain Bluebird with it’s soft pastel blues. I should do a post some day to share all three to compare their beauty!
That would be awesome!
A bunch of beautiful blues to chase the blues away! Love the portraits in #3 & #6.
Thank you, Barbara!😊
Great photos Donna! I just love the blue jay, what a stunner!
Thank you, Sue! Blue Jays are quite handsome, and boisterous too! 😉 I have 3-4 at my feeders daily.
There go those Jays again, hogging their share of the seeds/nuts – a brute lot I tell ya’!
They are a boisterous hoggers indeed!
Great series of images Donna! Enjoyed seeing them!!
Thank you, Reed!
