Across the swamp, a Black-crowned Night Heron rested in the shade under his naturally created ‘tiki umbrella’.

  1. Great shot. I think the best views I have ever gotten of a black crowned night heron were in the Everglades at Shark Valley, across the canal, and in a park in Oakland, CA, where they were almost tame, sitting in trees and on fences near Lake Merritt.

    • Thanks Susan! My best, too, have been in the Everglades last year. I’ve got a few places I’ve not visited yet that have a canal running along the road, like Shark Valley, where I found many. Need to get over there!

  2. The BCNH are very quiet and they hardly move, they love to be become invisible during the day. You did a great job to catch the details in the shade. Thanks, Donna. I miss FL when it’s cold here. 🙂
