The Crested Caracara is a handsome raptor. The other four are very impressive photos too!
Thank you, Hien!
Raptors are so majestic in the air and strong in land. You have the knack for aerial shots, Donna. Excellent work! π
Thank you so much, HJ! π
Love the wingtips on the Crested Caracara and always admire the smooth straight lines of Eagle. Nice shots, Donna!
Thank you, Eliza!
Another great series! My favorite is the crested caracara, especially because it’s not something I see in my neck of the woods. Thanks, as always, for sharing!
Thank you, Susan! Me too, with the caracara. I continue to look for them in hopes of seeing them one more time!
I’m not familiar with the Caracara, but it sure has some pretty flight feathers!
Thank you! The Caracara flight was part of the encounter I had with a pair seen a few weeks prior. The Caracara is a falcon that primarily lives in Central and South America, but some are now residing year-round in southern areas of Florida, Texas, and Arizona. My post on the photos of the pair is here. https://bayphotosbydonna.com/2021/01/28/a-pair-of-crested-caracaras/ They have a tropical flair!
Wow, very majestic!
Thank you, Jane, they are!
Great shots of these raptor in mid air.
Thank you, Rudi!
Gosh, you have some big birds over there! Great photos. π
Thank you, Mike! We sure do, I don’t know how they get in the air with such ease. π
Raptors look so majestic in flight. Beautiful pictures, Donna! I had never heard of a Crested Caracara before — very striking wingtips.
Thank you, Barbara! You might have missed my post a few weeks ago of the Caracara pair I shared. The flight shot is from the encounter I had with them then. π https://bayphotosbydonna.com/2021/01/28/a-pair-of-crested-caracaras/
Oh dear, now I am embarrassed! π³ My short-term memory problems manifest again. Looks like I had heard of Crested Caracaras before, and from your recent blog post, no less. (I even commented on them before…) Sorry about that!
No worries ever!!! I appreciate your following me, and oh my, I have been in overload with sharing birds and posts in past two months, even I have to check to see when was the last time I shared a specific species (I try to ‘change it up’ with bird species). Soon it’ll slow down and I’ll be digging through my files trying to find something to share! π
Well, I love the “overload” and look forward to your posts. π But I will understand the coming slow down — you can’t remain stationed in birding paradise forever!
Great shots of flying raptors, Donna! Most of then hover around so high, I think!
Thank you, Indira! They do! I just photographed a pair of eagles, they were really, really high in the sky and the shots just didn’t work. I love when they come lower! π
Great images Donna! Always enjoy your Raptor images!!
Thank you, Reed! Vice versa!! π
I always admire your crisp photos of birds in flight, Donna. I need to practice that skill.
Thank you, Tanja! I am still practicing after ten years. But I’m getting the knack of panning with the bird pretty good now. π
Good for you, Donna (and for us, too!).
Excellent. π
Thank you, Irene!
Awesome series! These are spectacular birds!
Thank you! Majestic and fierce!! π
Oh wow, you have 5 wonderfully majestic birds in flight for this post, Donna. I love it!
Thank you, Deborah! Wish you and I could be flying along with them! π
π
Wonderful collection! It’s a real skill to be able to identify raptors in flight!
Thank you, Denise! I love learning about raptors. I’m still not the best with some of the hawks, but I’ve got my handy-dandy hawk ID book to help me figure any shot out. Which means it’s possibly a new lifer! π
