Western Meadowlark in Song

As I walk along the trails at the back of the campground in the mornings or evenings, I can hear Western Meadowlarks calling out in the grasslands.  If I’m lucky, one will take a high perch on one of the trees at the campground’s property edge and belt out a beautiful song!

  1. What a great capture! Don’t you love all those bare tree limbs that make perfect perches and are so nicely exposed for photographers! We have a couple in the tops of our shoreline trees that the birds – and I – love.

  2. Living out in the midst of dry land wheat fields in Utah, we had so many Meadowlarks. They certainly loved belting out their song. It’s one of my favorite bird memories. Nice catch I can almost hear its song!!! 🎢🎢🎢

    • Thank you, Gunta! So happy you enjoyed this shot to bring back memories! The WMeadowlarks truly do love the fields and grasslands, and they let us all know with their song. 😊
