Great Egret Fishing With Flair

.

Our Great Egrets have been gone now a couple weeks, headed to warmer temps for their winter.  Taken about a month ago, I had missed posting this Great Egret doing a little fishing, with some dramatic flair.

“Gotta move”

“I’ll try here”

“Oh boy, I see them”

.

“Let me get a little closer”

.

“Ever so slowly….”

.

“Turning to follow”

.

“Head dive”

.

“Success!”

It was entertaining to watch this Great Egret work the wetlands, getting fish after fish!

  1. Wonderful captures, Donna! And kudos to your patience – I can only imagine how long it took for the egret to ignore you and catch something! 🙂

    • Thank you, Lisa! That egret was so busy, if it saw me, didn’t even pay attention to me. I was sitting in my car along the wildlife drive, waiting for the birds to happen! 😁

  2. Egrets are very elegant birds (not to mention good at fishing) and you’ve captured that beautifully. We regularly see Little Egrets in our estuary, but I’ve never been close enough to get a photo (yet).

  3. Wow! Of all the (at least hundreds) of Great Egrets I’ve watched out here, I have never seen them romp around like this. Amazing!
