Eagle Fly-By
A Bald Eagle swooped down to the water to snatch a fish in front of our boat and then another appeared to try to take it unsuccessfully.

They quickly split up, and the Eagle with it’s catch turned and did a fly-by directly in front of us.

My direction is given the eye in the next couple shots.
And off to a nearby tree to eat that catch!
That first shot is spectacular. The curvature of the wings and feathers and the colour. What a privileged place and time. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Sandy! It was an exciting, sudden surprise! We are planning on going out on our boat this afternoon. I am excited already, wondering what we will see. 😉 The winter waterfowl and Tundra Swans have begun to arrive!
Oh, I enjoyed the Tundra swans last year. Eager to see your posts.
No Tundra Swans today, but other nice early birds I’m eager to see if I got any great shots. 🙂
Look forward to them.
Awesome shot. 👌
Thank you, Michael!
You’re welcome, Donna.
…in all its power!
Yes!

Amazing captures, Donna! I love all the feather details in the first and last pictures.
Thank you, Barbara!
Excellent images of these Bald Eagles, and what a cool sighting!!
Very nice Donna! Always fun to photograph Bald Eagles! Enjoyed seeing your Bald Eagle images!
Thank you, Reed!
Eagles and Ospreys never hesitate to show they are better fishermen than I am. Nice capture of the excitement!
They do that to me too…. hehehe Thank you, Wally!
Great shots, Donna. Interesting how he/she tucks that fish up tight under its tail to hide/protect it!
Thank you, Eliza! S/he says, “Mine all mine!”
A great series, Donna! The bird really seems to be giving you the eye 😊
Thank you, Belinda! Enough an eye to say, I dare you to take this fish from me 😊
Beautiful captures Donna. How lovely to catch it fishing!
Thank you, Ashley!
Nothing like the impressive and awe-inspiring sight of an eagle soaring.
I agree! Thank you, Mary!
Lovely shots.
Thank you, Tom!
Eagles always mean business and their expression looks like they mean business too! Awesome captures Donna.
The Eagle’s power is impressive, looking eye to eye at one is intimidating for sure! Thank you, Denise!
These are great captures, so exciting to witness.
Thank you, Jane, it was!
Wow, what a fun experience and excellent captures, Donna!
Thank you, Ellen!
Those Eagles can definitely be a bit sneaky. While watching the Eagles hunt the Mississippi I always keep an eye out for the ones hanging off on the edges just waiting for another one to be successful. Like that shadow of the Eagle on the water.
Yea, they can be! They especially torment our Osprey, perched almost in hiding, watching and waiting for an Osprey to catch a fish to go steal.
What majestic birds!
They are! I get excited seeing them every time!
There is just something surreal about an eagle in flight. Thanks Donna.
I most definitely agree, such majesty!
