1-2-3 Cute As Can Be – #41
I am surrounded by the joy of little birds and enjoy capturing their cuteness. Here’s another winter set to see if you see their cuteness too!

Carolina Chickadee

Tufted Titmouse

House Finch (male)

Dark-eyed Junco (leaving me soon)

Purple Finch (female, leaving me soon)

Yellow-rumped Warbler (leaving me soon)

Brown-headed Nuthatch

Red-breasted Nuthatch (leaving me soon)

White-breasted Nuthatch
And my new arrival…

Chipping Sparrow (a pair arrived March 23!)

Another beautiful collection, Donna. Well done 👍
Thank you, Michael!
You’re welcome, Donna.
😍 💖
Thank you, Eliza!
Most definitely cute. Love the touch of yellow on the Yellow-rumped Warbler.
Thank you, Pepper! I’m always telling the Yellow-rumps to turn just enough to let me see their ‘butter-butt’. 😉
haha! Well, this one definitely listened. 😂

Lovely selection
Thank you, Sheree!
That Sparrow is pretty neat!
I love our chippers, a lively song, and they like to flock together, so when there’s one, there’s another! 🙂
Such a “cute” collection. Good to see that you gain new species as you lose some. More beauty for your to photograph. (Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne! The changing of the seasons is kind of bittersweet, but I am excited for the return of many species.
Yes, they are lovely!
Thank you!
Donna, You helped me to learn what I was hearing out on my front porch early this morning. I kept telling Yorkie that beautiful song isn’t our Mr Cardinal and I don’t know who it is other than a bird. When I saw your photo of the tufted titmouse I thought well I saw a titmouse this morning exploring the ash tree but it has a black crested top of head. So I went to all about birds website. Black-crested Titmouse of Texas, I found; and realized that is what we were listening to earlier this morning. You made me smile sending me to the rabbit hole where I found my answer!
That sparrow sure is cute! I’d say cuteness!!
Woohoo on the Black-crested Titmouse! We only have the Tufted Titmouse so I just looked yours up and OMGosh how gorgeous!! I wish they would join their cousins here in Maryland for a visit or two!
I have a suggestion if you don’t mind. Do you have a smart cell phone where you can download apps? If so, download the free Merlin Bird ID app run by Cornell Lab of Ornithology. It is very easy to use. It has a “Sound ID” green button you click and it’ll start recording the birds you’re hearing and tell you what they are, even once you stop the recording and SAVE it (top right corner), you can click on the birds to see photos, hear your recordings of them, or others. The app will blow you away! You’ll be telling Yorkie what each one is, he’ll be amazed too! 😉 Let me know if you can download it and have tried it. I am eager to hear!
I appreciate your suggestion. I’m familiar with Merlin Bird ID, but I choose to not use it. I do enjoy the all about birds website every once in a while. I’m not real serious about knowing everything. Mostly I just like to enjoy watching and hearing birds and critters flitter around my yard. I have a squirrel who has become quite friendly and is now demanding sunflower seeds. Miss Acorn comes to my door and has jumped up on my window seal to tell me she has arrived. She gets about a foot from me which is kind of scary, yet she’s entertaining too. I have a lot of birds who visit frequently. The hummingbirds are active now. They are my favorite. 😊
Exciting your hummingbirds are back! I have my feeders out and ready, mine should be arriving in two weeks!
Cute as a button!
That they are!
Goodness, what a wealth of bird friends! Glad you can see this much activity!
Thank you, I am very blessed!
You are spoiled for nuthatches. We only have one sort here.
I am spoiled with nuthatches and they are so darn cute. I have two Red-breasted Nuthatches that have been due to leave for their Spring breeding grounds but they are still here as of this morning. I took some photos of one hanging upside down, they’ll be fun to share soon!
They are very sweet, lovely photos 😊
Thank you, Belinda!
You do have quite the variety of cute little birds Donna. I don’t see the Finches around here, except the Goldfinches and only in Summer when the thistles and sunflowers are in bloom. Our Juncos have left already. I mentioned I’ve not seen any Chickadees which is too bad and I think the Tufted Titmouse is so cute, but I don’t see them around here either, more the Sparrows, Robins and Jays for me.
That I do, I am blessed, Linda! I was counting my backyard this morning and I still have a few juncos, I even said out loud to my husband (I don’t think he listens 🤣), “Yep, the juncos have pretty much left, there’s only three. The White-throats are going to go next!” Hopefully come Spring, you’ll being more. Don’t forget to flip on your Merlin app for a listen to what’s out that so you can look for it!
Those Juncos look so funny in the snow – all you see are their backs! That’s okay if your hubby doesn’t share your enthusiasm for birding. 🙂 I hope to identify more birds this Spring and Summer – thanks for the reminder Donna. I heard a Robin singing its heart out this morning.
All are definitely cute, but at least one is more cuter than the others and that (in my opinion) is the Brown-Headed Nuthatch. You stand there admiring those brown caps and then they go and do their dog toy squeak – heart melt ha. Great captures as usual.
Thanks! I just adore BHNuthatches too, they do indeed melt your heart. There’s a pair that pass through our backyard woods back and forth during the day and if I’m outside for whatever reason and hear them, I just break out in a smile!
