1-2-3 Medium Bird Jubilee – #28
More on the lines of handsome and beautiful for these common medium-sized birds in my backyard.

Gray Catbird
(popping out of hiding)
Cedar Waxwings
(drinking water around pump on our pool cover, ignoring my bird baths 😏)

Brown Thrasher
(a pair is nesting in the marsh thicket background of this photo)

Northern Mockingbird
(my backyard “mayors” hunting insects & keeping tabs on intruders; I think they like me 😉 )

Belted Kingfisher
(female ID’d by rust-colored belly band, fishing the marsh pond)

I love the Kingfisher!
Thank you, I am excited she’s back fishing at our pond!
You are not going to believe this, Donna! I knew three of them. 😁
Woot woot! Yay, Pepper! 😁
Thanks! 😊
Nice collection but my favourite is the kingfisher; they are such elegant birds. (Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne! Kingfishers are in the top faves of mine. We even named our center console fishing boat “Kingfisher” and I had one of my photos made into a graphic to put on with the name. 😁
That’s a great idea. We saw 3 or 4 species of kingfisher in Colombia. They were very pretty.
Oh my goodness, the Kingfishers I see photographed all around the world are stunning! I always think our version is more on the drab side. But I still love them! 🙂
I love belted kingfishers. So pretty! All shots so nice and sharp 😊
Thank you, Belinda! I have a couple places I can sit and just patiently wait for them to sit for a shot, lol. I love Kingfishers too, I get tickled when I hear them over the pond, chattering away in flight!
Sweet neighbors! 🙂
That, they are!😊
Beautiful photos!
Thank you!
That’s a great collection here Donna. I smiled about them drinking from the pool pump instead of the bird bath.
Thank you, Linda! I was thinking “gross…gross water” but it didn’t stop them. Those that flew up in the tree were directly over my pretty turquoise bird bath filled with fresh water too. 🤦♀️ Silly birds!
It makes you shake your head sometimes!
Gorgeous photos, Donna. I’m waiting to see my FOY Gray Catbird…any day now. 🙂
Thank you, Lisa! Fingers crossed for you, meow!! 😊
Amusing about the waxwings, Donna. Good inflight photo. The kingfisher is another of those birds that when you hear it once, you recognize its call forever after. The thrasher is quite handsome. And, he said out of curiosity, what do the mocking birds do to show they like you!?
Thank you, Curt! I had to go out and take photos of the waxwings, it was so funny! I adore my thrashers and kingfishers, both who will be around now for rest of the year.
