Resting Raptors
Are they resting? Or are they focused on a hunt? No matter the reason, these raptors are definitely taking in their 360 degree view!

Even the Turkey Vulture looks majestic in your portrait! Great capture!
Thank you, Barbara!
A nice collection of raptors & vulture. They always look so amazing when they are staying put on a branch to watch the surrounding or to rest. (Suzanne)
Thank you, Suzanne! I do get excited for raptors, they can produce some stunning shots when at rest.
I also like the raptors, they are so elegant. We saw quite a few different species during our trip to Colombia; in particular around the region of Mompox. They were magnificent and so easy to photograph.
Such magnificent birds
Thank you, Sheree!

Imagine the dread of any prey that enters that field of view ha!
Whew yes!
Nice pictures of good posers and hunters Donna!
Thank you, Linda!
You’re welcome Donna.
That red-shouldered hawk is such a cutie. Amazed how you know all their bird types.
Thank you! It’s their joyful beauty that keeps me interested in learning all that I can.
Raptors are very good at sitting still, a skill that I have never mastered. 🙂
🙂
Definitely looking for something live to chase down and eat, I’d say, Donna. Except of course for the Turkey Vulture. It doesn’t have to worry about chasing down dinner. Speaking of Merlin, I was using its bird ap in Costa Rica. What a great help!
Yea, you gotta wonder what a vulture is thinking when it’s circling or just looking at you. Makes me feel like it’s eyeing me up for later! 😂 I am super jealous of your travels to Costa Rica, the Merlin app opened your canopy world above I am sure. Looking forward to photos!! Three members of my county bird club went a few months ago to Costa Rica, they were trying to get me to go but I was having medical issues and couldn’t risk it.
Wait until you reach your 80s, Donna, and they are staring at you. Grin. The first bird post will go up next week. I’ll be featuring Crested Guams and Chachalacas. We found them both interesting and amusing!
