Snooze Time

Snooze (sno͞oz/) – To take a short, light nap, typically during the daytime hours.  Used to rest up before an activity.

Also –  doze, sleep, rest, siesta, power nap, catnap, forty winks, drop off, snatch forty winks, get some shut-eye, put one’s head down, catch some ZZZZs.

Here’s a Double-crested Cormorant squeezing in an afternoon snooze while soaking up some warm sunny rays.

I can so relate…..although I’d much prefer a lounge chair to a piling.

  1. That’s a lovely napper (is that a real word?)! This is the way many birds catch some ZZZ. I can relate, too, but my neck is far too stiff for this comfortable position 🙂

  2. That’s the way I feel every time I sit in a sofa to watch the news on TV. The difference is I don’t stick my schnoz under my arm for a snooze… Thank you Donna! 🙂

    • Thanks Deborah, I have had a lot of fun with so many poses and stances of the Cormorants. They were more docile around the fishing pier and inlet I visited often making it so easy, lucky me!

  3. It’s a wonder they don’t get a kinked neck with those contortions. I’d go for the lounge chair, too. Great capture of the napper!

  4. I love how graceful it looks with its head tucked in a twist and one foot off the piling. I definitely could not fall asleep in that position (or look as charming trying it)!
