Common Tern on a Float
Crab pot floats make great resting spots for many birds while they fish the waters.
Common Tern
This Common Tern’s float perch even matches its beak and feet!Β π

Yes Donna, I was immediately taken with the bright colours and the matching. Stunning photo π
Thank you, Liz! I saw the ‘matching pair’ from a distance and motioned hubby to motor towards the tern for the shot. π
Awesome picture, Donna.
Thank you, Isabel!
Adorable! π
Thank you, Irene! π
Very nice photo. I really like your composition choice. Is there an uncommon tern or not so common or uncommon tern?
Thanks David. All the other named terns are uncommon to this one. ha!
Nice close-up and colour co-ordination!
Thank you, Jane!
Great shot Donna.
Thank you, Brian!
terrific photography on your website.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Lovely bird! Making enough of noise, I presume π
Thank you, Indira! He was actually quiet and panting somewhat, it was so hot. I was very happy he didn’t feel threatened as we floated by him at a distance. π
He picked his perch well, didn’t he! Love the reflection!
Thank you, Susan! When I saw the orange reflecting in the distance AND then a bird on top, well you know I signaled Rick to motor towards it! We drifted by at a distance, I got several angles of him perched, but it was that reflection I wanted too. π
Nice Donna! Certainly adds a POP of color!
Thank you, Reed! I saw that ‘pop’ of color and reflection across the water, then a bird on top…..how more perfect, I thought! π
You have a color-coordinated Tern, far from common! That’s a cute photo, Donna. π
Thank you, HJ! π
Perfectly coordinated indeed! β€
Thank you, Takami! π
I almost thought that was floating litter but it is recycled milk cartons. A nice spot for the birdie π Nice shot Donna! ππΌππΌππΌ
Thank you, Al! The Chesapeake Bay hosts the best-tasting blue crabs (steamed with Old Bay seasoning, yummy!). So many people try to catch their own. You are required to obtain a Maryland crabbing license, your floater is to be marked with your license number, you’re to man your pots, and they are not to be left unattended for days. Some of the rules! π
Fine colour and detail. Sweet shot Donna!
Thank you, Belinda!
So nicely color-coordinated. π
For sure! π
