Lighthouses: Cape Hatteras and Bodie Island

I’ve visited two of the five Outer Banks lighthouses.

The first is the most famous of the five, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

  1. Great pics Donna. I love the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, it has an interesting look about it. Were you able to go inside it?

  2. Lighthouses are always interesting places to explore Donna, they have that nostalgic old world charm, and have lots of stories of a tough life and sea rescues etc

  3. I really enjoyed the lighthouse photos here, Donna. And I’m SO GLAD you included the Fresnel lens at the Bodie Island Lighthouse. Your photo captured its magical light so well. I looked that one up and found that it’s of the “first order,” which makes it the biggest Fresnel lens there is. I find the Fresnel Lenses so very exciting, so thank you.

    • Thank you, Jet, on the info about the Fresnel lens, I don’t know much about them, but do find them fascinating too! I also enjoy the stories of the lighthouses and the keepers. 🙂
