My last post shared two ‘blue’ herons.Β  Here is the Green Heron, the smallest of all herons in the United States, in both habitat and close-up shots.

  1. Wow, I’ve never seen a green Heron, I love the colors and patterns in the feathers! A very attractive bird, your photos of him are beautiful, so sharp! πŸ₯°πŸ˜Ž

  2. These guys are very popular in Florida. I’m sure you’re going to bump into them, all over. Great shots, Donna. πŸ™‚

  3. Wonderful captures, Donna. I love these colorful little birds, and miss them. Thanks for reminding me of why I miss them and just how colorful they are!

  4. I just saw the Green Heron on Ted Jennings site, I had never seen this bird before. You have great photos of it also. What a beautiful bird.

    • Thank you, Sandra! They are quite abundant in Florida right now (I think you’re presently in Florida too?) but like to be elusive. Short & stocky, keep your eye out for one anywhere around water. I’ve seen them on boat lines, docks, and piers too! πŸ™‚

  5. Wow! A beautiful bird. The middle image stood out for me as extra special with its surreal background.
