The above slide show shows where the two immatures did make contact and locked one talon together, then cartwheeled down, breaking away before the tree line.  (wish photos were better!!)

In the next two photos, you can see the difference in two immature Eagle’s mottled plumage.

  1. You certainly struck gold with this series, and I’m sure after today’s visit you can really appreciate how great your timing, and of course your photos, were from that visit. Thanks for sharing so I can see what we missed!

    • Thank you, Susan! Yep, it is always being at the RPRT moment. I forgot to mention in my email, did you see the Wild Turkey at the end of the drive, and the Yellowlegs midway? I missed the turkey shots, they ran into cover, darn it.

  2. That must have been such a joy to watch. I did enjoy the photos, especially practice with swooping and swirling and locking talons.

    • I got to watch them for over an hour, two different times, that while the GBHs flew back and forth, quite thrilling! I hope to see the immatures playing and practicing more, that in itself feels special to see them do that. 🙂

  3. Lovely photos! This eagles are living life as always should be, as a family! Very endearing shots. Thanks, Donna. 🙂
